Aquatic Sciences
Making
measurements in the aquatic environment demands the best in skill
and experience. For over 25 years, ASL Environmental Sciences Inc.
has specialized in the physical measurement and study of the world's
oceans, lakes and rivers, in environments ranging from the Arctic
to the Subtropics.
Our
professional
consulting services are founded upon our strong understanding of
the physical sciences. We study ocean dynamics such as: tidal patterns,
current flows, thermal properties, salinity, the action of waves
and sea-ice and iceberg climatology. In the freshwater environment,
we study flow properties, flushing and circulation patterns, the
behavior of discharge plumes, and geo-environmental dynamics such
as sedimentation processes. We have expert capabilities in the field,
planning and executing studies in environments as diverse as sea-ice
platforms, the open ocean, permafrost in soils, and the races of
hydroelectric dams.
From
a vast array of instrumentation, we offer
reliable, innovative measurement techniques, custom-prepared
to meet the specific needs of each project. In addition, our compilation
and archival of oceanographic data obtained in the waters off Canada’s
eastern, western, and northern coasts, represents a major resource
to companies and governments engaged in offshore activities. We
have also collected extensive data from studies conducted in the
Equatorial and North Eastern Pacific, furthering our understanding
of the aquatic environment around the globe.
Our
personnel
have presented the scientific results of these studies published
as papers in many peer-reviewed journals
and at many scientific meetings and congresses. ASL has developed
an extensive library of analysis software for data processing and
analysis and numerical modeling.
