U
ncertainty in oil prices means getting the most for your exploration dollar. Our reliable, innovative and cost competitive products and services let you get the most out of your exploration and start-up operations

Environmental studies in support of site surveys for oil and gas wells and drilling platforms are crucial, but need to be completed as quickly and economically as possible.

Oil exploration in the polar regions presents even greater challenges to the industry. Accurate, reliable information on ice thickness and velocity and on winter physical oceanographic conditions is crucial.

Today's Solutions

We have carried out over 500 projects in the last 25 years, often under demanding environmental conditions in the Arctic, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

We have conducted many environmental assessment programs and impact studies. Collection, analysis and interpretation of physical oceanographic, meteorological and geo-environmental data is made and a historical review of past data conducted.

We acquire and custom-prepare all required instrumentation, along with ancillary equipment. We also assume responsibility for deployment-planning in support of field-operations, and for providing support services for the preparation of the oceanographic equipment used.

Oil Exploration in the Polar Regions

This environment presents particular challenges to industry. We are involved in investigations into operational ice-forecasting systems, and in the study of iceberg distribution and deterioration.

polar exploration
To support the design and operational planning for offshore oil and gas activities off the northeastern coast of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Federation, we have been conducting a program of ice keel draft and ice velocity measurements annually since 1997.

Wave Profiler

Extended Ocean-wave data sets
Extensive Lease Pool of Oceanographic Equipment
Tidal Analysis & Predictions
Wave Extremal Value Analysis

The Wave Profiler has the ability of measuring waves in up to 225 meters of water from the relative safety of the ocean floor, avoiding surface hazards such as ships, vandalism and adverse weather.

When you require wave data:

  • Before your oil and gas platforms are in an area.
  • For the purpose of providing inputs to, or validation of, wave models.

Ice Data Gathering
and Analysis

The ASL Ice Profiler, is an upward-looking ice profiling sonar that can provide high quality ice thickness data when moored along with Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, provided the data required to measure is:

  • ice keel drafts (including thick rafted ice), and document the openings of the recurrent flaw lead, or coastal polynia and;
  • The ice speed as a function of time throughout the winters.
